SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is employed to verify if an e-mail message is sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will stop the counterfeiting of emails generated with the domain. In simple words: enabling this feature for a domain name generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers that are permitted to send email messages from mailboxes under the domain. When this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When a new e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through tests if it comes from an authorized server. In the event it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, yet if it does not come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody will mask an e-mail address then make it appear as if you're distributing spam. This method is also referred to as email spoofing.
